This piece was inspired by the Persian rugs in my childhood home that have crossed oceans and been passed down generations. Each floral motif, taken out of its context, reveals the similarities across rugs, cultures, and time. Their beauty obscures my family, paralleling our levels of understanding. I might know my own story, but it’s impossible to know the full history these rugs have witnessed.
